How To Clear Your Ram On Mac

I have been informed that clearing up my Activity Monitor on my Mac would help make my Mac run faster and work better. When I have nothing but the Activity Monitor open, this is what appears:

  • I have 12GB RAM in an iMac i7 and look how its RAM chart reads: I tripled the as-shipped RAM from 4GB to 12GB and the system still takes advantage of nearly all that. However, there are no swaps and the memory pressure is minimal. The computer runs very fast even with multiple apps open. There is not problem with your computer.
  • In Applications, sort your apps by size. Delete the largest ones. Restart your Mac to free up RAM. Get rid of system junk files with a free version of CleanMyMac X. This app gives you lots of possibilities to free up space, especially when it comes to system junk.
  • Many Safari-users found that when using Safari on a Mac, 'This webpage is using significant memory (or energy). Closing it may improve the responsiveness of your Mac' will suddenly pop up. Some users also reported that this message appeared when they tried to use Safari to open Netflix, Facebook, and websites such as CNN, CBS, MSN and so on.

I would like to delete/stop any that are not necessary for my computer. I do have a couple applications installed on my Mac that did not originally come on here, so I realize that I will need to keep those as well. Are there any that I can delete without causing my computer to crash or not work correctly?

ICleanMemory has proven very helpful - especially while editing video or other demanding memory tasks. Even with 8GB of RAM in my 1 year old MacBook Pro, Final Cut Pro X starts eating through it pretty quickly. No more restarting or closing/reopening - just clean the memory and free it up after 30 seconds to a minute. Clear memory cache on a regular basis. Clearing out the memory cache of your laptop is a good way to keep idle processes from taking up all the precious memory space on your computer. By doing so, you’ll always have enough memory to keep your actively running programs running smoothly and efficiently.
